Alsek River Trip / 13 days
The Alsek River descends 174 miles from Canada’s northern coastal mountains to the Gulf of Alaska. This international wilderness river trip is punctuated by iceberg studded lakes, sprawling glaciers and the tallest coastal mountain range in the world.
This is an active trip and everyone will help set up and break down camp. Time on the river is typically relaxing but the weather can vary and rafts may encounter ice clogged lakes or upstream winds that make travel difficult. Participants will occasionally be asked to paddle and should be in good physical and mental health. Advanced camping and rafting experience is advised.
Highlights include Kluane National Park and the densest population of grizzly bears in Canada, 150 bird species , frequent wildlife sightings, and the Goat Herd Mountain hike.
All Haines Rafting Company expeditions are fully outfitted and include heavy duty tents, pads, sleeping bags, rain gear, drysuits, life jackets and helmets. Our guides are seasoned professionals with multiple years of experience on these rivers.
