Rafting, Hiking & Sea Kayaking Packages

Private Adventure Packages

These tour packages are designed to provide maximum comfort, adventure, and social distancing, while you explore our rivers, glaciers and fjords with an expert guide.

These 3 to 5-day adventure packages begin in the remote fishing village of Haines, Alaska. Nestled between Glacier Bay National Park and the Tongas National Forest, Haines is the perfect jumping-off point for exploring the wild side of Southeast Alaska.

If rafting past bald eagles only feet away, hiking from a remote beach to Davidson Glacier Lake, and sea kayaking the pristine waters of the northern Lynn Fjord, sounds fun then these multi-day packages are tailor made for you.

Your personal guide will arrive at 9:00 AM to escort you to the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. It’s a 45-minute scenic drive and bears, moose and eagles are often seen from the road. At the “put-in” we will don boots and lifejackets (provided) before beginning our float through the heart of the eagle preserve. This day is designed to move at a ralaxing pace and there is ample time to stop along the way to exploure game trails, side channels and your guides secret spots. We will stop mid day for a riverside picnic lunch. You will be back to town early afternoon with plenty of time to have a seiasta, go for a rike or rent bikes and cruise around town.

We’ll have an early start today. After a quick stop at the coffee shop for espresso and breakfast, we’ll proceed to Letnikof Harbor to meet our boat captain. The 30-minute water taxi ride to Glacier Point is impossibly beautiful passing under Rainbow Glacier and along the jagged shoreline of the Chilkat Peninsula. Once on the beach, we’ll check our provisions and start the 4-mile trek to the glacier. Covering 3 distinct transition zones we will move from the maritime beach zone into forested morain and eventually up to the glacier’s face. The pace of the day will vary depending on the weather and your personal interests. We will have a picnic lunch at the glacier before the return hike to our waiting water taxi.

Another early start – we’ll meet at 8:00 AM for coffee and breakfast before heading to the beach for sea kayaking lessons. After honing our paddling skills and shoreside picnic we will head out for and afternoon paddle. Sea kayaking the fjords and lakes of Southeast Alaska is a sublime experience that everyone should do at least once in their life. With an abundance of wildlife (marine, bird, terrestrial) the northern inside passage provides amble opportunities to nature doing its thing around you.

Check in at the Aspen Suites or the Inn at Haines after 2:00 PM. Your personal guide will meet you at 4:00 PM for a pre-trip orientation and to review the week’s events. You are on your own for dinner this night.

We will get an early start this morning. First flight lifts off at 7 AM. It’s a short but exhilarating flight to the headwaters of the Tsirku River. Our camp is near the Le Blondeau Glacier and we will spend the day exploring the glacier and iceberg filled lake. You won’t believe how good a gourmet camp meal tastes after a big day of hiking and you will never forget the view from our riverside tents sites.

After a delicious riverside breakfast we will break camp, load the rafts and head downstream. The river is fast but without rapids. Watch for moose, bear and mountain goats as we raft though the upper valley. We will stop for a riverside picnic before entering the world famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve which supports some of the densest populations of bald eagles in North America.  We will eventually intersect with the road system and finish the day with hot showers and dinner on your own and any of our local restaurants.

After a quick stop at the coffee shop for espresso and breakfast to go, we’ll take a short van ride to Letnikof Harbor to meet our boat captain. The 30 minute boat ride to Glacier Point is one of the most scenic rides imaginable passing under Rainbow Glacier and the along the jagged shoreline of the Chilkat peninsula. After wading to shore and unloading our gear you will follow your guide on a private trail to the Davidson Glacier Lake. This 6 mile round trip hike is mostly level with a few short but steep portions. There will be plenty of time to lounge or skip rocks on the shore while we eat lunch and take in the stunning scenery. Really adventurous souls might hike the steep rocky climb to the glacier face before heading back to basecamp for another exquisite camp dinner. As the light dims find your beach tent site and settle in to the sound of the waves.

Today we sea kayak! Pack your tents and sleeping bags, enjoy breakfast on the beach and don your drysuits and pfd’s for the morning kayak lesson. We will spend 2 to 3 hours learning the ins and outs of sea kayaking. Weather permitting we will paddle to Chilkat State Park and meet our shuttle back to the hotel / B&B.
